Commodore’s Corner: March 09
The monthly forecast says it should be around 60 degrees by the end of the month - just the right temperature to get the boat out and start cleaning and working on the “to-do” lists. For those who stored your boat at Caesar Creek Camp Grounds, remember to move your boat as soon as possible but definitely by the end of March. The storage lot should be available around the middle of the month. For those of us at the Clinton County Fairground we have until April 4th to remove the boats. Last year, most were gone by April 1st as everybody was getting their spring maintenance in early, so get ready to move your boat accordingly.
It will soon be time to kiss the blarney stone. Although based on the personalities of many of us I think we have already kissed it (see below). Jim Wiles has made the mistake of allowing us to have the Commodores Bash at his castle in Blanchester, OH. The Bash will be March 14th from 6:30PM to 10:00PM or until Jim kicks us out (is that earlier or later than 10:00?) CCSA will host the main course and drinks; plan to bring a dish to share. The Irish are among us or at least the Bushmills is among us. Directions will be sent by email.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the Blanchester Castle.
The Blarney Stone is a block of bluestone built into the battlements of Blarney Castle, Blarney about 8 km from Cork, Ireland. According to legend, kissing the stone endows the kisser with the gift of gab. The stone was set into a tower of the castle in 1446.
